For the third time this season we see the greatest rivalry in sports come to a head. The Yankees once again welcome in the rival Red Sox as they battle for the AL East.

So far this season the Boston Red Sox have owned the New York Yankees. Boston has won 5 of the 6 meetings so far this year, but now a chance for the Yankees to get some wins.

Today begins the next series between these two storied franchises. It's very exciting too because right now the Yankees have a 1 game lead over the Sox for first place in the division. As of right now if t were to come down to a tie for first and the playoffs, the Yanks would be out of luck because the Sox would own the season series.

New York needs to take 2 of 3 from Boston this time around and this is the time to do it. The Yanks are coming back home after a week long road trip out west and it was pretty successful. The key to the Yankees victory lies within their pitching. While on the road trip their pitching was fantastic. They went deep into the games allowing their bullpen to rest up. The bats were also heavily active.

Pitching match up for today will see Freddy Garcia on the mound for the Yankees while the Red Sox will start Jon Lester. Garcia has more losses than Lester this year but a lower ERA. It will be a very exciting game. Usually a regular season series doesn't mean much but when it comes to Yankees Red Sox it could mean the season. Game starts at 7pm tonight and you can catch all the action on ESPN Radio 104.5 the team.
