2 Guys 1 Mic Podcast – Inaugural Episode
On Thursday, I – 1045theteam.com writer Joe Bianchino – was joined by Game on With Bruce Jacobs Producer Pierce Brix for the first installment of 1045 The Team’s new sports talk production, the 2 Guys 1 Mic Podcast.
What up ya’ll. My name is Joe Bianchino; I’ve been a writer here at 1045theteam.com for the past year. A few months ago an idea for a podcast coalesced in my mind as a for venue for the type of unspeakably entertaining, tangent-filled, rant-ridden sports talk you have just hanging out with your friends somewhere. Well, as we embark on what we’re calling 2 Guys 1 Mic, it is that sort of excitement that what we hope to capture in each episode, while adding some insight and enlightenment when we can – if possible.
Each Thursday I’ll be joined by a member of the 1045 The Team line up and we’ll shoot the breeze for an hour or so. This week, for our innagural edition, I was joined by Pierce Brix, better known as the producer for Game on With Bruce Jacobs. Below, you’ll find – as you will every week from now on – four audio links to the various segments of that day’s show - each around 15 minutes - and a brief description of what each segment has to offer. Follow me on twitter @JoeBianchino, and keep checking us out.
In today’s first fifteen minutes we discuss the horror that was the New York Rangers’ Eastern Conference Semi-Final game six against the Washington Capitals, New York sports’ inability to win easy, and the end of the New York Knicks season.
In segement two we wrap up our Knicks discussion and spend some time chronicling the Yankees’ future without Mariano Rivera and the resurgence of the New York Mets as a…contender?!
…And here is where the wheels came off. We open segment three with a brief discussion of a rather absurd pet peeve of mine, then explore Brixy’s ludicrous idea that Rocky V is anything but garbage. This discussion leads us farther down the rabbit hole of sport movie sequels than we probably should have gone, but do yourself a favor. Come along with us.
In our final fifteen minutes of what we hope to be the first of many episodes, I unleash the first ever “Outrageous Claim.” It’s a segment of the show in which one of us voices an absurd opinion that we whole heartedly believe in, but know will cause a ruckus. And boy, does this one cause a ruckus. We also wind down the show with the worst close in the history of radio, but give us a break, it was the first day. We hope you enjoyed it, and hope you tune in next week for more of 2 Guys 1 Mic.
