Yankees manager Joe Girardi stated on Friday that A.J. Burnett would be removed from the starting rotation in the ALDS against the Detroit Tigers.  There is, however, an outside chance that Burnett could make a starting appearance in Game 5 if Game 2 is rained out tomorrow night.

Although Burnett is unlikely to make a start in the opening series against the Tigers, Joe Girardi left the door open for Burnett to make a starting appearance should the Yankees advance to the American League Championship Series.

"It's a good possibility," Girardi told writers before tonight's game.  "We just decided to go with three starters for this round."
