I really can't speak for the Miami Marlins and what they were thinking when they said they'd consider bringing Alex Rodriguez into the fold, but at least A-Rod is sticking to his decision to not play another game this season. For the Marlins, who are in the thick of the National League wild card race, it should be about the post season. Signing A-Rod would be a publicity stunt. Sure, Rodriguez could put some more people in the seats, but Miami can't possibly think Rodriguez would be a difference maker on the field. It's a good thing that Alex chose spending time with his family and friends over jumping right back onto the field. I wouldn't rule out A-Rod back in uniform for the start of next season, but for the rest of 2016 we can put these Alex Rodriguez stories to rest.
