It may be March, not July. It may be against a National League opponent, not the Red Sox. And and the game may be in Tampa, not the Bronx, not Boston, Baltimore, Texas, Los Angeles or Seattle.

It doesn't matter. When you haven't seen game action in 18 months, you take whatever positives you can find. And that's what Alex Rodriguez did on Wednesday, singling in his first at-bat in 18 months against the Phillies.

Does this mean anything in the long run? No. But it's baseball, and it's A-Rod playing baseball. He at least showed he can still make contact.
