A-Rod’s “Confident” He’ll Play Next Season

Today at David Ortiz's golf tournament, New York Yankee Alex Rodriguez was asked about the awaiting verdict of his 211-game arbitration hearing.

"Yes, I feel confident," said Rodriguez, in Spanish. "I'm preparing as always, working hard. I feel completely healthy, I have the entire offseason to prepare for it.

"We have to get out of this and start talking baseball, about the good things with MLB and about my hard training work to get back in the middle of the Yankees' lineup."

A-Rod was also asked about good friend and former teammate Robinson Cano taking a 10-year, $240 million contract to play in Seattle with the Mariners.

"I'm very happy for Robinson Cano; he's like a little brother of mine. We've talked a lot in the process. Congratulations to him and his family. He is not only a great player but a great human being and big representative of the Dominican Republic."

The verdict from Rodriguez's arbitration hearing should come down within the next month.
