After a mild 1st period Friday night in Manchester things got crazy, defensive assignments were missed and goals were a plenty. In fact Manchester scored 6 over the last 2 periods and went on to hand the Albany Devils their 1st loss of the new year 7-4.

With the score tied at 1 apiece the Monarchs went wild in the 2nd, scoring 3 unanswered goals to take a 4-1 lead after 2 periods. The Devils tried to claw back into the game scoring 3 goals in half the 3rd period to cut the deficit to 4-3. The goals coming in rapid order from Adam Larsson, Mattias Tedenby, and Harri Pesonen. However the Devils forgot the other end of the ice and left goaltender Jeff Frazee to fend. The Monarchs  opened up a 2 goal lead again at 12.32 of the 3rd then added an empty net goal with seconds left for the final margin.

Both teams were efficient or better with the man advantage. Manchester went 2 for 3 with the extra man while the Devils scored 4 power play goals in 7 tries.

The loss snapped the Devils 3 game winning streak to start the new year. They will attempt to get back into the win column on Saturday night when the Devils will host Worcester. It's a special night at the Times Union Center when the Devils host kids in free night. And child 12 and under gets in free with a ticket buying parent.
