Cowboys receiver Dez Bryant is currently under the franchise tag tender and wants a longterm deal. ESPN's Adam Schefter believes that Bryant's threat of not playing in the regular season is real.

"Yeah, I believe he’s speaking the truth," said Adam Schefter, to Armen and Levack, on 104.5 The Team in Albany, New York. "The question is how long is he not going to play.

"He’s not happy that he got franchise tagged. They have until Wednesday at 4pm ET to try to work out a long-term contract extension. If they can’t do it … then he can’t get a longterm deal this year.

"I don’t think we’ll see Dez Bryant in training camp. I’d be really surprised … I’d be shocked if you saw him before any pre-season games were over."

Bryant would not be losing money until the season starts, whenever he would miss out on a $750 check per game.

"You don’t miss out on [any money] by missing training camp and the pre-season games. You miss out on nothing. That becomes a no-brainer. If there’s no longterm deal by Wednesday, I don’t think we see Dez Bryant till late August at the earliest."
