They play 12 regular season games so familiarity is common with these clubs. However, the games are not. Just over a week after beating the Adirondack Phantoms 5-1 at home the Devils went to Adirondack for meeting number two and got shutout 4-0 Saturday night.

Ben Holmstrom of the Phantoms scored the big goal, his effort led to a tip in goal in the second period and slammed the door shut on Albany.

Holmstrom dove across the ice and tipped in a shot to make it 2-0. In total, the Devils special teams weren't special, allowing two power play goals (Holmstrom's) and then Erik Gustaffson scored a power play goal in the third. Add in a short handed tally in the first period, and the first score of the game, by Adirondacks Sean Couturier's. The Phantoms last goal of the game came at even strength by Shane Harper.

The game was marred by several incidents of fighting and nasty stuff, including some fighting majors and minors with just under four minutes left in the blow out. Oh, they say familiarity also breeds contempt. If that's so we should see more of the fighting and brawling as we move along for the Time Warner Cable Cup which the winner of the season series between the two gets.
