A few weeks ago Kurt Busch was fired from Penske racing for cursing out an ESPN reporter during the final race at Homestead-Miami. Today, his replacement was named as AJ Allmendinger will take over drving the #22 Dodge.

Allmendinger was let go from Richard Petty Racing on Tuesday after his Primary Sponsor Best Buy moved to Rousch Fenway racing  had this to say about the new opportunity:

"I am honored to join Penske Racing and I will do my very best to continue to build on the standard of excellence established across the organization,"

Since 2007, Allmedninger has had 152 career starts. He has yet to win a race, but he is coming off one of his best years finishing 15th with 10 top 10 finishes this season. David Ragan was also in the running for the job but now it looks like he is running to drive AJ's old ride as is Kurt Busch.

Allmendinger has moved around quite a bit since starting in 2007 with Red Bull Racing. He then had a short stint with Michael Waltrip Racing and Gilette Evernham Motorsports. GEM would eventually merge with Richard Petty Motorsports and AJ was the only driver to survive the merge.
