Several area high school boys basketball teams are recognized in the first New York State Sportswriters Association poll.

In Class AA, CBA of Albany ranks 14th and Shenendehowa tied for 25th.

Green Tech occupies 20th in Class A while Mohonasen is 25th.

Watervliet earned seventh in the Class B poll while Makeel Christian and Catskill are 17th and 19th, respectively.

Hoosick Falls takes ninth in the Class C rankings, Greenwich is 13th and Rensselaer 15th.

The Class D shows Argyle eighth.

In football, the final state rankings show Shenendehowa fifth in the Class AA poll while Columbia and CBA of Albany are 26th and 29th, respectively.

Burnt Hills finished third in the Class A rankings, Amsterdam 12th and Troy 20th. In Class B, Schalmont occupied fourth place while four area teams earned Class C honors. Hoosick Falls placed second, Fonda-Fultonville 12th, Watervliet 18th and Tamarac 19th. Cambridge took fourth in the Class D while Rensselaer earned 15th.

In girls soccer, the New York State Sportswriters and Coaches Organization for Girls Sports featured area players and coaches for postseason honors.

Taylor Florio (Schalmont) for Class B and Alice Hayden (Hoosick Falls) for Class C are Co-Players of the Year, Schalmont coach Angelo Caschera was named state Class B Coach of the Year, and Tom Husser (Hoosick Falls, Class C) and Chris Edwards (Northville, Class D) named Co-Coaches of the Year in their classifications.

The final rankings in girls soccer included: AA-4. Bethlehem, 13. Shenendehowa and 18. Saratoga; A-3. Burnt Hills, 14. South Glens Falls, 19. Lansingburgh; B-1. Schalmont, 16. Broadalbin-Perth; C-1. Hoosick Falls, 4. Mechanicville, 5. Hoosic Valley; D-2. Northville.
