Throughout the AHL season, I had the pleasure and the privilege to conduct several interviews with Albany Devils head coach Rick Kowalsky. He was able to provide terrific perspective on all things hockey, both on and off the ice.

Albany finished the year with a 31-34-6-5 record and wasn’t eliminated from postseason play until two days before the final regular-season weekend. Only weeks earlier, the team was poised to make the Calder Cup Playoffs, sitting in seventh place in the Eastern Conference on March 9th.

Then a string of injuries chipped away at the roster and the team slowly dropped in the standings. In the end Syracuse and Manchester earned the final two playoff spots, leaving the Devils and six other teams on the outside.

Earlier this week, I was able to have my final sit-down of the season with Coach Kowalsky to take a look back at the final two weeks of the season and gain some perspective on the year that was. Check out the interview below.
