So far this season the Albany Devils have had the Adirondack Phantoms number. That number got disconnected Friday night as did the Devils, losing to their top rivals 4-2 at the Glens Falls Civic Center.

In a high scoring 1st period it was the Phantoms who went to the lock room after 1 up 3-2. Albany goals by Harri Pesonen and Chris McKelvie were matched by the Phantoms +1.

Andrew Johnston, Brandon Manning and Rob Bordson staked the Phantoms to that 3-2 lead. The Devils were shot down the rest of the way by Adirondack backstop Scott Munroe who stopped 31 of 33 shots on goal in winning his 11th game of the year. Jeff Frazee who finished up for an ineffective Keith Kinkaid the game before against Syracuse got the start and the loss for Albany. Frazee  shut out the Phantoms after the 1st period. The last goal by Adirondack came with just over a minute left in regulation and it was an empty netter.

Of note the goal in the 1st period ny McKelvie was short handed, the 7th shortie of the year by Albany. Pesonen's tally was his 10th on the season.

Albany still owns the season series winning 6 of the 8 matchups and has already clinched the Time Warner Cable Cup, awarded to the winner of the season series between these 2 rivals.

One other note from this game. Mattias Tedenby who just returned to the lineup with Albany after being called up the parent New jersey Devils and then missed a few games after being sent down with an injury suffered a cut to his face when he got bladed by a skate. Team officials say he is fine and will undergo some plastic surgery. No word on when he will return to the lineup or even if he will miss any time.

The Devils return to the ice for a Sunday matinee at the Times Union Center against Binghamton. Face off is scheduled for 3:00 P.M.. It is a Dunkin Donuts family 4 pack event with family of 4's getting 4 tickets, 4 hats and a 10 dollar Dunkin Donuts gift card.
