Before Fridays Contest against rival Adirondak the Devils were win less on home ice going 0-3. Then Friday came and the losing skid went, thanks to a 5-1 win over the Phantoms. This was the 1st time in 3 losses the Devils grabbed a 1st period lead and held it for the remainder of the game.

The game also had a rarity, a penalty shot, but even more rare, 2 of them, 1 by each team. The Devils converted theirs. The Phantoms netted theirs.

Albany took an early 2-0 lead, barraging the Phantoms with the 1st 10 shots recorded in the contest. Jacob Josefson and Matt Anderson scored in the 1st frame. Albany had double the shot chances 12-6. Adirondak's  Zac Rinaldo's penalty shot was the lone talley for the Phantoms.

The Devils had their chance with a penalty shot in the 2nd period as Adam Henrique was hooked going to the net by the Phantoms Marc-Andre Bourdon. he buried his chance giving the Devils a 3-1 lead after 2. A side note this was the 1st time in an AHL contest that 2 penalty shots were awarded in 1 game. The last time was 1996 in a game between Springfield and Providence.

The Devils added 2 more goals in the 3rd period to win going away. Phil DeSimone and Darcy Zajac both netted their 1st goals of the season helping the Devils win their 1st on home ice. Head coach Rick Kowalsky was very satisfied with his teams effort and win saying " Other then a couple of little letups, that was probably our best 60 minutes of the year.".
