Here at 104.5 The Team and 1045theteam.com, we love to find local success stories. We enjoy bringing the listener stories of Capital Region natives who are doing big things.

Today, we spoke to Carmen Maciariello, an Albany native who is an assistant basketball coach at George Washington University.

The Colonials take on the Florida Gators tonight in the Elite 8 of the NIT. The winner will advance to the NIT Final Four.

Maciariello is a Shenendehowa graduate who also graduated from Siena College. He is also a member of the Capital Region Basketball Hall of Fame. We asked him about his team at GW, his time coaching the Albany City Rocks, what he thinks about the success of Siena and UAlbany and about how talent has evolved in the Capital Region since he was playing locally.

Maciarello and his GW team can be seen tonight at 7 p.m. on ESPN2.
