A devastating rushing attack led by Drew Smith pounded the ball to the tune of 261  yards and 5 touch downs leading the Danes over what was a stingy Monmouth defense to improve their record to 4-1 (2-0 NEC) Saturday afternoon at University Field.

Chillis went 77 yards for a touch down run in the 1st quarter on a reverse. Running mate Smith went 66 yards to the house in the same quarter. Throw in a 81 yard TD connection from quarterback Will Fiacchi to Ryan Kirchner and the blow out was on. Monmouth entered the game third in FCS football  in defense allowing a scant 72.2 yards rushing and a combined 37 points in their first four games. The loss dropped the Hawks to 3-2 (2-1 NEC).

Albany put up 511 yards of total offense, 263 rushing and 248 passing. The Danes added TD's of 44 yards (pass from Fiacchi to Chillis) and  67 yards courtesy of the running of Presley Beauvais late in the 4th quarter to cap off  the scoring.

UAlbany is now deadlocked with Duquesne for the top spot in the Northeast Conference at 2-0 in the conference and 4-1 overall. Bob Ford takes his club on the road for a battle with Bryant University next Saturday.
