Surgery.  A-Rod will not be in the lineup today when the Yankees face the Tampa Bay Rays.  He will miss the next month if the Yanks third baseman opts to have surgery on his injured right knee.  A-Rod hasn't hit any home runs in his last 85 at bats.  That's the second-longest drought of his career.

Rodriguez hurt his knee against the Cubs on June 19 while running the bases in a 10-4 win.  Yankees manager Joe Girardi said that A-Rod is a huge part of their lineup and could opt to play through the injury.

"Players have done it before.  You're not ever sure how productive they're going to be and if you're going to need to get them a day off here.  It's unpredictable," Girardi said.  "If he wants to try it, that's something we'll definitely discuss.  But if he decides to have surgery, we'll live with that too."
