It’s taken 3 trips to the Olympics, and many close calls, but American track and field star Allyson Felix has finally achieved her longtime goal. Earlier today Felix won the 200 meter, earning her the first Olympic gold medal of her impressive career.

Felix easily rolled Jamaican Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce for first place, finishing in 21.88, while fellow American Carmelita Jeter grabbed the bronze. Allyson has been one of Team USA’s best runners for years, but in her last two Olympic efforts she wasn’t able to earn above a silver medal. Felix’s gold gives the U.S. 34, 2 behind China for the most of any nation.
