Why has it taken Jason Pierre-Paul so long to reach out to the Giants? Because he's going through a range of emotions, says NFL Network Analyst Brian Baldinger.

"I put myself in JPP’s place. It’s a combination of being embarrassed. It’s being scared, you’re losing a finger," said Baldinger, with Armen and Levack on 104.5 The Team.

"From my understanding, it’s amputated from the knuckle down. My understanding is that he has no index finger. He’s scared to death. ‘I have just blown an opportunity to make $60 million, if they find out how bad this is, I have probably blown the $15 million I should have had this year. I may not ever be an effective football player again and may never be able to make a living playing football again.'

"I think all of that is contributing to what he’s thinking about with the Giants. Sometimes if you go underground, sometimes the reality is suspended. The truth isn’t, but sometimes the reality can be suspended to what you’re facing."

After Pierre-Paul denied to have the Giants training staff look at him days after his fireworks accident in Miami, he has since had an open dialogue with the defensive line coach and has also made contact with CEO and President John Mara, general manager Jerry Reese and head coach Tom Coughlin.

No one has a timetable as to when Pierre-Paul will be back as he is currently training by himself in South Florida and has yet to sign his franchise tender with the Giants.
