As he said on this Saturday's edition of 'Capital Region Sports Saturday,' Shen pitcher Ian Anderson will sign a pro contract with the Atlanta Braves.

While Anderson cannot officially sign until after this week's Shenendehowa graduation, it's nice to know that the Capital Region will have another millionaire in its graces.

As Heyman notes, signing Anderson for $4 million gave the Braves the opportunity to sign other high school selections and other Top 10 draft picks. He will sign for nearly $2.5 million less than he could have potentially earned in that spot.

Anderson is the third player in as many years to be taken in the first round from the 518, including Jeff Hoffman (Shaker/East Carolina/Blue Jays) and Garrett Whitley (Niskayuna/Tampa Bay Rays).

It will be interesting to see where Anderson goes upon signing. He could stay on the Braves complex or could go to Rookie Ball.

Regardless, he's in a great situation as the Braves are really rebuilding well at the Minor League level.
