The Shenendehowa baseball team advanced to the New York State Final Four with a win on Saturday against Cicero-North Syracuse. In the win, Shen star pitcher Ian Anderson allowed just two hits while racking up 16 strikeouts.

It was a nice final outing for Anderson before the Major League Baseball draft, which begins on Thursday.

Anderson is projected to be a first-round pick. He can either sign professionally or honor his scholarship commitment to Vanderbilt.

I caught up with Anderson on Friday at Shen before he took the mound. Has the season been a challenge for him? Has it tested his focus? What are his emotions less than a week from the draft? Who has he leaned on for advice during this time?

Furthermore, has Anderson had the ability to just enjoy being a high school senior at all? How has the last year been?
