Jake Arrieta was just too much for the Yankees to handle as the Orioles beat the Yankees 5-0.

Baltimore Orioles v New York Yankees

The Orioles pitcher was extremely dominate on Wednesday night pitching 8 shutout innings allowing only 5 hits while striking out 9 and walking no one. The Yankees couldn't get anything going as all 5 hits were singles and no runner got to second base.

Baltimore had all the offense during the night. Matt Weiters homered off of Ivan Nova in the 4th. Robert Andino had an RBI single in the 6th. Nick Markakis homered in the 7th followed by an RBI double by Weiters and an RBI single from Nick Johnson.

If having no offense in the game wasn't bad enough, Eric Chavez left the game in the middle of his at bat in the 5th inning. Chavez started to get woozy and was carried off the field. Apparently it all stemmed from diving for a JJ Hardy hit earlier in the inning. He was taken to a local hospital for whiplash and a possible concussion. He will not travel with the team for the next series.

The Yankees will now head to Kansas City for a 4 game series with the Royals. Game 1 will be on Thursday with David Phelps making his first start for the Yankees replacing the demoted Freddy Garcia. Phelps will face Danny Duffy for the Royals.  You can catch all the action on 104.5 The Team ESPN Radio. Pregame is at 7:30 with the first pitch at 8:10.
