Jake Arrieta threw the sixth no-hitter of the season on Sunday night when he beat the Los Angeles Dodgers on Sunday Night Baseball in Los Angeles.

Arrieta walked one and struck out 12 en route to his 17th win of the season.

The former Baltimore Oriole hurler finished off his historic performance in grand fashion, striking out the side in the bottom of the ninth. He got Justin Turner, Jimmy Rollins and Chase Utley in the final frame.

The Dodgers had a chance for a hit in the bottom of the seventh when Carl Crawford hit a line drive to second base that was snared by Starlin Castro. They also had a chance for a hit at another point, but Castro was given a questionable error.

As previously noted, Arrieta's no-no is the sixth of the year. He joins Chris Heston (Giants), Max Scherzer (Nationals), Cole Hamels (Phillies), Hisashi Iwakuma (Mariners), and Mike Fiers (Astros).

Fiers also no-hit the Dodgers; LA has been no-hit twice within a 10-day span.
