The Houston Astros were a trendy pick this year to get to and possibly win the World Series. After getting to the playoffs in 2015, expectations have been high for Houston. But thus far, the team has disappointed, going 8-18 through the first 26 games.

But one of the best stories of the early going for Houston is the play of first baseman Tyler White. The former walk-on at Western Carolina made the team out of Spring Training.

We spoke with White today about his road to the big leagues, what the moment was like when he heard he was making the team, and what the reactions of his parents were.

Furthermore, we asked White what it was like to debut against the Yankees in New York and what it was like to win American League Player of the Week in his first big league week.

Finally, White was a Tri-City ValleyCat in 2013 and helped lead the 'Cats to the New York-Penn League title. We asked him about that.
