Back when current Iowa men's basketball head coach Fran McCaffrey was the main man in charge for the Siena Saints and now former head coach Mitch Buonaguro was experiencing his first year at the helm, Adam Chaskin was there for all the trials and tribulations. From the MAAC Championships to the upsets of Ohio State and Vanderbilt, through the highs and the lows, Chaskin was a staple on the sideline for the Saints during those years.
If you had sat down with me before the America East Basketball Tournament kicked off last weekend and told me that UAlbany would have to go through Stony Brook and Vermont to get to the NCAA Men's Basketball Tournament, I would have said their chances were slim. The odds were stacked against them and history not on their side, but the Great Danes have closed the final chapter of their 2012-13 America East season with a championship trophy and silenced doubters.
News broke last Thursday that the NFL Competition Committee is going to consider a number of rules changes over the next few weeks, including the abolishing of "The Tuck Rule" and creating a rule that would penalize runners for lowering their heads to initiate contact with defenders

After yesterday’s excitement in the Men’s Quarterfinals of the America East Tournament, it would be an understatement to say that I was thrilled about coming back to SEFCU Arena for another slate of four games. On the Sunday calendar was all four Semifinal matchups on both the Men’s and Women’s sides, with only two schools being represented in both sessions – tournament host UAlbany and Vermont.
After finishing my coverage of the America East Tournament on Saturday night, I had a late dinner at home and happened to flip on my television to the World Baseball Classic. It was the United States against Italy, and the Americans had a 6-2 lead in the sixth inning. I'll admit, I watched about two innings of the game, but I eventually turned it off.
March Madness has officially arrived for mid-major conferences throughout the week, and that includes our very own UAlbany Great Danes, who are hosting the America East Tournament throughout the weekend at SEFCU Arena. The ladies opened action on Friday with a triple-header of Quarterfinal match-ups (Maine forfeited against UAlbany due to travel concerns, hence only a triple-header), and the action continued Saturday with the four Men’s Quarterfinal games.
After only two months back from injury, one of the New York Knicks' star players is going back on the injured list. Earlier today, the team announced that Amar'e Stoudemire will have a right knee debridement this coming week and should be expected to miss roughly six weeks, putting his timetable for a possible return around when the NBA Playoffs begin on April 20.
