As a lifelong Capital Region sports fan who has just so happened to be in radio for most of my professional life the chance to “join the Team” pun intended was the kind of offer I’ve been dreaming of. Growing up a Yankees, Knicks and Raiders fan(a punishment I share with my beautiful daughter Ella) I’ve felt the pain and success that comes with diehard fandom. Luckily for me my friends that love the Giants have adopted me so I have a reason to watch football after the Raiders have been eliminated EARLY every season for the last 10 plus years. I’m excited to talk sports and enjoy multiple happy hours with all the sports fans of the Cap Region…even the Red Sox fans.

Do Not Do These Things When You Get Your COVID-19 Vaccine
Every day more and more things are opening back up and life continues to get closer to "normal" or at least close to normal. One of the reasons we're able to get back to things like sporting events is people are getting their COVID-19 vaccine. If you're like me you've got questions about the best way to prepare for the shot and what I should and shouldn't do after getting vaccinated. Here's a list of what not to do when you get your COVID-19 vaccine shots.
UAlbany Football Opts-Out Of Remainder Of Spring Season
The University of Albany Football has announced that they will opt-out of their two remaining games this Spring season. The decision was made public in a press release from the university earlier today. The Great Danes were scheduled to play at #8 Delaware on April 3 and at home against #16 Villanova on April 10. The team says they decided to opt-out due to "a focus on the health and safety of the team's student-athletes due to the high number of injuries on the roster."

Yankees Key Dates And Matchups On The 2021 Schedule
Spring Training is over and the New York Yankees are in the Bronx preparing for their Thursday afternoon season opener against the Toronto Blue Jays. I know we're not 100% back to the way things were pre-pandemic but knowing that we're getting a full season and fans will be in attendance has me feeling almost giddy. For the first time in about a year, I'm actually looking ahead and feeling (mostly) good that these games are going to happen and who knows I might even be at Yankee Stadium for them. Here's a quick list of big matchups and dates for the New York Yankees 2021 season.
Mets and Lindor Two Years And $60 Million Apart
The clock is ticking for the New York Mets and superstar Shortstop Francisco Lindor to get a deal done before the season starts this Thursday. That's the deadline set by Lindor to stop focusing on contracts and start focusing on playing baseball. So here we are on Tuesday morning and both sides seem eager to get a contract signed but still sit a reported two years and $60 million apart.
Zach Wilson To The Jets Is Far From A Sure Thing
With the NFL Draft about a month away we are in the heat of what Trey Wingo calls "Lying Season". Every NFL team from the owner to the GM to digital interns will say whatever they have to in an attempt to gain leverage or sew the seeds of doubt in other teams. Meanwhile, every reporter and insider is reading into every single morsel of information trying to predict what will happen from Thursday, April 29th to Saturday, May 1st in Cleveland, Ohio. I say all of that to say this, just because Jets GM Joe Douglas went to BYU QB Zach Wilson's pro-day doesn't mean they're 100% drafting him with the second overall pick of the draft.

UFC Heavyweight Champion Francis Ngannou is the undisputed "Baddest Man on the Planet" now that he knocked out Stipe Miocic as the main event of UFC 260 but do you remember when he stole the show at UFC Fight Night 102 here in Albany? On a card headlined by fellow heavyweight Derrick Lewis vs Shamil Abdurakhimov, Ngannou stole the show and the title of "Fight of the Night" when he submitted Anthony Hamilton in front of over 6,000 MMA fans at the Times Union Center on December 9th, 2016.
Travers Stakes To Air On Fox Sports Through 2030
The New York Racing Association (NYRA) and Fox Sports have reached an agreement that will keep Saratoga and Belmont racing on Fox Sports through 2030. The relationship between NYRA and Fox Sports was the only way for a lot of fans on New York Horse racing to see any of the action last season due to The COVID-19 pandemic. I know all parties involved are hoping fans will be able to safely return to the tracks this summer but knowing they can watch on Fox Sports as well is a very good thing.

Who does Lennon think is the better rotation and who is the best pitcher not only in New York but all of baseball.

The New York Giants and Jets have been very active in Free Agency. Even after a slow start for the Giants they've come on strong adding players like Kyle Rudolph and Kenny Golladay to name a few. Meanwhile their MetLife roommate the Jets have consistently added talent since Free Agency began. a few questions remain for both teams like are they done adding free agents and what's the plan for their drafts?
