MONTREAL (AP) — Rene Bourque had a hat trick and the Montreal Canadiens kept their playoff hopes alive with a 7-4 victory over the New York Rangers in Game 5 of the Eastern Conference finals on Tuesday.

Alex Galchenyuk, Tomas Plekanec and Max Pacioretty also scored for Montreal. David Desharnais scored into an empty net for the Canadiens.

Andrei Markov had three assists.

Derek Stepan scored twice for the Rangers. Rick Nash and Chris Kreider also scored.

Game 6 will be played in New York on Thursday.
