So Mark Sanchez and the New York Jets are in the AFC Championship game for the 2nd straight season while Eli Manning and the Giants are left out of the playoff mix for the 2nd straight season.

So which New York quarterback would you rather have now?

I'm taking Sanchez.

PLAYOFF RECORD: Eli Manning is 4-3 with a Super Bowl victory in 2007.  He only made 1 NFC title game and he won it (as he beat Brett Favre).  Eli defeated Brady in the Super Bowl but he’s had three 1st round flameouts in his career.  He also didn’t get into the post-season in 3 of his 7 years in the league (including the last 2 years).

Meanwhile, Sanchez is 4-1 in the post-season.  He’s been the AFC Championship game 2 straight years - his only 2 years in the league. He won all 4 of his games on the road vs. Carson Palmer, Phillip Rivers, Peyton Manning & Tom Brady.

CLUTCH FACTOR: With the exception of the Super Bowl run, Eli hasn’t been the guy that rallies a team in the playoffs.  It seems like he’s lost more 4th quarter games than he’s won.  I just don’t fully trust Eli with the game on the line.  Mark Sanchez on the other hand, has led the Jets to out-of-the-blue 4th quarter comebacks this season (Texans, Browns, Lions, Broncos and the Colts in the playoffs).

Ask yourself this, if the team is down by 5 points with 1:30 left in the game and no timeouts, who do you trust? Eli or Sanchez?  I’m talking about this year – it's not 2007!!!  Again, I'm going with Sanchez.

TEAM LEADER: How man times have you ever seen Eli Manning fire up his team on the bench?  The one time Eli made a pep rally speech was after the Packer blowout loss.   He’s been in the league for 7 years and finally, he speaks up?  Mark Sanchez was in his teammates’ face yesterday, after the Patriots cut the Jets lead to 14-11. He was firing up every member of the offense, telling them, “We’ve got this!!”

Eli Manning might have more talent than Mark Sanchez but the Jets QB just seems to have "it" - whether it's intangibles, grit, desire, determination or fire, I just think that Sanchez is the guy I'd want as my team's quarterback right now.
