I've obviously heard of players being traded for players. I've obviously heard of players being traded for coaches, even though it's rare.

What I've never heard of? Is a player being traded for an executive. And that could be the situation facing former Shaker High School star Jeff Hoffman. (It apparently happened in 2012 with Theo Epstein going from the Red Sox to the Cubs for reliever Chris Carpenter, but who recalled that immediately?)

The Blue Jays want Executive Vice President Dan Duquette from the Orioles to be their president. What would the Orioles want? Hoffman, potentially. The Jays first-round pick this year out of East Carolina is recovering from Tommy John surgery, but possesses a mid-to-upper 90s fastball when healthy.

Seems odd to me why you would pony up a potential staff ace for an executive, but that's just me.
