Much as we reported earlier with Jamie Schultz (Maple Hill), Capital Region fans begin to turn their eye towards Section II products as Spring Training is just over a month away.

Another local prospect turning heads is Bethlehem and Siena product Mike Fish...

Fish was listed by Ward as the No. 44 prospect in the Angels system. He's coming off a season in which he hit .286 across two levels. He had 34 RBIs.

From Ward:

Fish has a compact swing from the right-side, which allows an optimal bat plane through the zone which brings consistent contact...Though he doesn't have the loft you'd like for a power hitting outfielder, he will be able to drive the ball gap-to-gap and smash balls to the left center gap primarily...

When all is said and done, Fish is a sure thing. He should fit best as a fourth outfielder, who has a very simple game plan. Reach base, put the ball in the field, and find a way home. That's all you can ever ask of a guy who could be a nice piece off the bench.
