If Rex Ryan is going to turn the Bills defense into the bully that he has set out to make them, he may have to do it without the team's second round draft choice.

Compounding matters for Ryan and company is the uncertainty surrounding first-round pick Shaq Lawson and his surgically-operated shoulder. Reports are that Lawson could miss a portion of the season as well.

The Bills defense took a major step back under Ryan in his first season in Buffalo and was counting on both Lawson and Ragland to provide help with the pass rush and speed off the perimeter.

If the Bills are going to break the NFLs longest playoff drought, then they are going to need more good fortune than this...

Here's to hoping that the veterans of the Bills defense can step up, including Marcell Dareus and Stephon Gilmore.
