The New York Yankees fell to the Minnesota Twins on Sunday in unusual fashion. The Yankees gave up six home runs to the Twins, including back-to-back-to-back by Brian Dozier, Trevor Plouffe, and Max Kepler in the sixth inning.

Twins pitcher Tyler Duffey, was looking to keep his spot in the Minnesota rotation, and did so on Sunday. Duffey only gave up two hits as he threw eight innings, striking out eight (all 8 strikeouts came in the first 9 batters he faced).

"You could say he earned another opportunity," Twins manager Paul Molitor said following his teams win.

Mark Teixeira supplied the only Yankees offense of the day as he hit his 4th home run of the season in the eighth inning.

"You win a series here, but it's frustrating because we had a situation where we won three in a row there, we weren't able to win the fourth. You win two in a row, you're not able to win the third," Yankees manager Joe Girardi said.

The Twins have now won only 2 of their last 12 games against the Yankees dating back to last season.

The Yankees get set to face the Rangers on Monday with Ivan Nova on the mound. Chi Chi Gonzalez starts for Texas.
