Brandon Laird made his Major League debut on Friday night in a 17-7 win against the Oakland A's.  Laird pinch-hit for Derek Jeter in the seventh inning.  Laird was greeted with a Joey Devine fastball that sailed far behind the righty.  Laird eventually drew a walk.

Laird recorded his first Major League hit in the eighth inning by hitting a single up the middle.  He was also able to drive in a run for his first Major League RBI.  Laird was promoted from Triple-A Scranton when utility infielder Ramiro Pena went on the DL after undergoing an emergency appendectomy.  Yankees manager Joe Girardi told Laird that he would be in the starting lineup for the Yankees on Saturday.
