Earlier today the Philadelphia Eagles announced that running back Brian Westbrook, who last played with the 49ers in 2010, has decided to hang up his cleats for good.

For all you young fantasy football freaks who think that LeSean McCoy is the greatest thing since sliced bread, sit down and watch some film of Westbrook’s dazzling play in the early-mid 2000s. Feared in this area as one of the greatest “Giants killers” of all time, Westbrook made two Pro Bowls in his career and lead the league in yards from scrimmage in 2007.

The Eagles will honor Westbrook at halftime of their home contest against the Washington Redskins on December the 23rd. It is uncertain as to whether they picked one of the most miserably cold dates on the schedule on purpose, or if that was just a mere coincidence.
