Yesterday we reported to you that Maple Hill grad Jaime Schultz would be starting his season in AAA for the Tampa Bay Rays while LaSalle grad JP Sportman would be starting his season in AA with the Oakland Athletics.

And today we tell you that Broadalbin-Perth and Siena product Matt Gage will be starting his season in AA for the San Francisco Giants.

Gage will be playing with the Richmond Flying Squirrels, where he spent part of last season as well. He started seven games in Richmond in 2015, going 2-3 with a 4.66 ERA.

While he was at Siena, he led the Saints to the NCAA Tournament in 2014. It was he who matched up with TCU ace Brandon Finnegan in the NCAA Tournament and helped push the Horned Frogs to the brink. Remember Finnegan? The kid who pitched in the College World Series and the MLB World Series in the same year (he played with the Royals and now plays for the Reds).
