Surprising some on the outside but nobody on the inside, Buffalo Bills GM Buddy Nix has decided to step down as General Manager of the Buffalo Bills effective immediately and will instead let a "younger" person take over.

Nix has served as GM of the Bills since 2010. He was hired by Buffalo in 2009 as a scout but replaced the fired John Butler.

Nix has made many moves to get Buffalo back to the playoffs. The Bills have the longest current drought of missing the post season, now 13 years consecutive.

Nix surprised many by spending large on defensive linemen Mario Williams last off-season. Williams was the top free agent on the market but struggled his 1st year in Buffalo.

The Bills have been looking for THE quarterback since Jim Kelly retired. Nix made moves in that regard. 1st he signed Ryan Fitzpatrick to a huge money deal but after signing the contract Fitzpatrick went in the tank. Nix hopes to have reversed that problem by signing Kevin Kolb in the off-season and also shocking many by drafting E.J. Manuel with the Bills 1st pick in this years draft, number 16 overall. he also acquired Tavaris Jackson from the Seattle Seahawks last year.

Nix is not leaving the organization just moving aside after over 50 years in pro football. Nix will become an assistant to Ralph Wilson, who owns the ball club.

The Bills also have a brand new head coach that Nix just hired during the off-season after firing Chan Gailey whom Nix hired. The new head man is former Syracuse head coach Doug Marrone. many felt Nix would draft Ryan Nassib and team him with his college coach, that being Marrone.

However Nix is very much the non-conventional guy, going with the elusive but raw Manuel who played at Florida State.

The last time the Bills made the playoffs they were undone by the " Music City Miracle.' They haven't had a winning season, forget the playoffs, since 2004. With Nix as the GM the Bills have a record of 16-32 in his 3 years.
