While many fans are understandably not optimistic about this year's Yankees team, don't put ESPN's Buster Olney in that group.

"I picked the Yankees to make the playoffs as a wild card team," said Olney, with Armen and Levack on 104.5 The Team. "I think they have a great bullpen, and they have a great defense, but they will continue to struggle offensively because they probably have one of the most shiftable lineups in all of baseball because they’ve got a lot of older guys, who are pull hitters and you can stack up one side of the infield."

The American League East appears to be very weak this year as well, does that add into Buster's though process of picking the Yankees to make the postseason?

“I do think it’s a year of parity, which would help [the Yankees]. Part of my decision to put them in the playoffs is that I think if they follow their recent history, they’ll have upgrades during the course of this year.

"Before the trade deadline if they need a starting pitcher they’ll find a way to go out and get guys, and they have more in their farm system to do that than they did two years ago."

Buster Olney joins Armen and Levack on 104.5 The Team every Thursday at 5:15p, thanks to Buffalo Wild Wings.
