If you're a Mets fan and have seen the Mets struggle over the last few games, you're not the only one who's thought of 2007.

“I got e-mails from Mets fans this morning,” said Olney on Thursday afternoon, with ‘Armen and Levack’, on 104.5 The Team. “They were basically recounting all the numbers, seven ahead with 17 to go.  It sounded like reading Edgar Allen Poe when I got it this morning, right?"

It was eight years ago when the Mets lost a seven-game lead in their division with just 17 games remaining.

“I don’t think the Nationals are as good as the Phillies were, the team that ran down the Mets in 2007.  I think the Mets are better.  I can understand the fear of Mets fans in part because we know that the Mets young rotation is on fumes right now.

“You got Terry Collins talking about DeGrom and maybe they are going to pull him back.  We know they have been working with Syndergaard.  Matz is not someone that they are going to roll out there for nine innings every time. And then you have the Matt Harvey situation.

“That all said, I think that the Mets will find a way to finish it off. And you’ll be amazed at how much pressure will come off that team if they just manage to win a one or two games over the next four or five days.”

ESPN's Buster Olney joins Armen and Levack every Thursday at 5:15p ET, on 104.5 The Team, sponsored by All Star Wine and Spirits.
