Beginning tomorrow, June 18th, and going until June 28th, the umpires of the Capital Region will be helping to fight cancer by raising awareness and money for cancer research.

Today, I was joined by Eastern New York Umpire Association umpire Jim Dalton, who outlined exactly what is happening:

1. The umpires of the ENYUA and the Schenectady Baseball Umpire Association will be wearing pink jerseys for the time of June 18-28 to raise awareness for cancer research.

2. Umpires in the two associations will be donating game checks in that time to help umpires within the association who are battling cancer.

3. If people within the Capital Region want to get involved, they can donate money to the American Cancer Society, the Susan G. Komen For the Cure, St. Jude's, or the Melodies Center for Childhood Cancer at Albany Med.

4. The Umpires will also be joining with the Albany Athletics of the Albany Twilight League at their "Baseball Fest" at the end of the month, which raises money to fight cancer.

Please take a listen to the interview and learn what the Umpires are doing, how it got started, and learn even more about how you can get involved.
