The St. Louis Cardinals got hot at the end of the regular season and that hot streak continues as they beat the Texas Rangers to take Game 1 of the World Series on Wednesday.

It appeared the game would be a pitchers duel as both the Rangers C.J Wilson and the Cardinals Chris Carpenter were sharp for the first few innings.

The Cardinals got on the board first thanks to a 2 run single by Lance Berkman that scored Albert Pujlos and Matt Holliday. The Rangers got those runs back quickly  when Mike Napoli blasted a home run also scoring Adrian Beltre to tie things up at 2. The Cardinals Bullpen would take over and wouldn't allow another run.

The Cards would break the tie an inning later in the bottom of the 6th. David Freese would smack a double and shortly after Allen Craig who was pinch hitting for Carpenter would hit an RBI single.

In the ninth,Cardinals closer Jason Motte would face the heart of the Rangers order in Michael Young, Adrian Beltre and  Nelson Cruz. He would take care of them in order but not without controversy as Beltre would be called out on a ground ball that initially hit his foot which should have made that a foul ball.

Game 2 is tomorrow in St. Louis with Colby Lewis on the mound for the Rangers taking on Jaime Garcia for the Cardinals. Be sure to check out all the action on 104.5 The Team ESPN Radio. Pregame at 7, first pitch at 8:05.
