26 players has its challenges. Most of these student-athletes are the “best players” on their travel teams and they want to play the whole game everyday and who would blame them? They are kids. Traditionally, in youth sports, the players are not the problem. Well, another thing I learned, this group paid attention and was polite and ridiculously well behaved because their parents were cool. They seemed to appreciate the entire experience for their kids

Governor Andrew Cuomo has given clearance for High Risk High School sports to begin as early as February 1st. High School players and coaches of Basketball, wrestling, hockey, volleyball, football and lacrosse may finally get to compete here in New York. As long as local health departments approve Cuomo and the New York State Department of Health will allow practice to begin as early as February 1st.

With the numbers of COVID-19 cases continuing to climb in New York State it comes as no surprise that the New York State Public High School Athletic Association is forced to place new restrictions on Winter sports. NYSPHAA has canceled all winter championships and postponed high-risk sports until authorization is granted by State officials.

The latest sports to be effected by the COVID-19 pandemic is the High School Fall season here in New York. The New York State Public High School Athletic Association has voted to delay the official start of the 2020 Fall season and cancel the Fall 2020 Regional and State Championships. In a press release issued earlier today from NYSHSAA the delays and future plans were laid out.
