Some schools will be changing classification for the 2018 football season.

With the season opener at the Times Union Center less than a month away, the Albany Empire has signed its first two players. The Arena Football League free agent signing period opened Monday morning and the Empire reeled in two Capital Region products.

Mohon has been a surprise to some people this season, but they are further proof that playing a Suburban Council schedule all season, many games against Class AA schools, prepared them well for the playoffs.

Shane Hendry won a sectional championship as a lacrosse player at La Salle and now the 2006 graduate will try to bring the Cadets back to those heights as the program's new head coach.

March Madness with a little High School flair this Saturday as the Colonie Garnet Raiders and the Shenendehowa Plainsmen will face off for the Section II Class AA Boys Basketball Championship.
