As the first day of summer dawns, the two New York Major League Baseball teams are on a collision course for another Subway World Series for the first time in more than two decades. The Yankees have the best record in baseball. The Mets have the second best scorecard. In a few weeks, the two will face off for their regular season series. Maybe then we will see which team is better. However, which team has the best all around player? Who is the king of New York baseball?

It's not too often that a guy making $43 million per year pitches in Upstate New York but thanks to the Syracuse Mets and the Binghamton Rumble Ponies we have that opportunity at times. Tuesday is one of those occasions and Mirabito Stadium in Binghamton should be rumbling with excitement. As of 7:30am there are still good tickets available!

Many of us that are dads, spend a little extra time thinking of our father's that have long passed on Father's Day. The day will often conjure up memories of time spent with a person that truly shaped our lives. Small moments many times become big memories.

On this fateful day 35 years ago, a passionate New York Mets' fan was spit on by a player on the team, causing controversy about who launched the magic loogie.

True New York Mets fans hold their breath, wait for the next shoe to drop, etc, until about the second week in October. When that rare occurrence happens and their beloved team makes the playoffs, they will be generally satisfied and begin to enjoy the winning experience. Until that point, it's early and plenty of bad stuff can and has happened to this franchise.

Petco Park is the home of the San Diego Padres. The stadium opened in 2004 with some 1400+ Padres home games having been played. Yet in that time span, no Major League Baseball player had ever hit for "the cycle" (a single, a double, a triple and a home run in one game), until Monday night.

At six foot-six, with long blonde hair flowing from his hat, he almost looked mythical on the pitcher's mound. For six years the New York Mets had hoped that the player nicknamed "Thor" would be hammering opposing batters with his 100 mph fastball. The mythical character came to life on multiple occasions for Noah Syndergaard and the Mets, just not enough to keep the towering right-hander in Queens, NY. Tuesday night, the Yankees showed the Mets why they didn't lose much.

The New York Mets have really impressed me thus far in this still early 2022 MLB season. as they are weathering the storm without Jacob deGrom and Max Scherzer.

There are so many cool baseball events that go on in Cooperstown each summer. The Hall of Fame Classic baseball game played at Doubleday Field is one of them and is a tradition that goes back a few generations. Names like Brooks Robinson, Ozzie Smith, Earl Weaver and Wade Boggs are just a few of the names that have highlighted the games over the years. The Classic was cancelled in 2020, and again last year.
