Reds Throttle Saratoga’s Tim Stauffer, Padres

It was a night to forget for Saratoga native Tim Stauffer.

The San Diego starting pitcher allowed five homeruns in the first three innings. The Cincinnati Reds hit seven in all — matching an MLB record — in a 13-1 victory over the Padres.

San Diego starting pitcher Tim Stauffer hung around for seven innings after serving up three early homers but didn't factor in the decision as the Padres lost to the Mets on Monday night, 9-8.

Talking Track: The Whitney

Saturday's Saratoga racing card featured the 84th running of the Whitney Invitational.  This mile and an eighth race is probably the second biggest race (next to the Travers) Saratoga has to offer, though the Jim Dandy and the Alabama may have something to say about that.  Patrons of the ponies who made the trip up on this mildly moist Saturday were not disappointed in what was one of the hardest races I've ever had to handicap.  A race that would eventually be won by Tizway.

Saratoga’s Tim Stauffer, Padres Shutout Dodgers

Tim Stauffer has been one of the best pitchers in Major League Baseball over the past month.

On Wednesday night, the Saratoga native shutout the Dodgers as the San Diego Padres avoided a three-game sweep with a 3-0 win.
