The University of Albany Football has announced that they will opt-out of their two remaining games this Spring season. The decision was made public in a press release from the university earlier today. The Great Danes were scheduled to play at #8 Delaware on April 3 and at home against #16 Villanova on April 10. The team says they decided to opt-out due to "a focus on the health and safety of the team's student-athletes due to the high number of injuries on the roster."

The University of Albany Great Danes men's basketball team introduced the program's 4th ever Division I head coach Dwayne Killings earlier today. As if holding a press conference in front of the media of the Capital Region wasn't enough the guy hops in a car and came to Ravenswood Pub in Clifton Park to join Levack and Charlie and introduce himself to the 104-5 The Team ESPN Radio listeners.

Earlier this week our own Rodger Wyland reported that Marquette assistant basketball coach Dwayne Killings would be the new head coach for the University of Albany men's basketball team. Today UAlbany confirmed that report in an official press release from the school.

The news that Albany would be getting a new indoor lacrosse team is hitting even better than I thought it would. The area is primed perfectly for a new team right now. The success of the Great Danes of the Unversity of Albany has more and more Capital Region residents paying attention to lacrosse. It's only fitting that the team who will call Albany home would have a UA alum on it. Joe Resetarits played for head coach Scott Marr and the Great Danes from 2009 to 2012 and now he's coming back with the Albany NLL team(name currently being decided).

The University of Albany Great Danes football team is 1 - 0 to start this six-game Spring 2021 season. Even though the thought of FCS college football in March is far from normal one thing hasn't changed, UAlbany likes to run the football with Senior Karl Mofor. Head Coach Greg Gattuso knows talent on the football field and has some high expectations for Mofor.

As the University of Albany Men's Basketball team prepares to face NJIT in the first round of the America East tournament head coach Will Brown sounds prepared and calm. When we spoke to Will Brown before this season began it was clear that he was excited to get his team on the court for a few reasons. Obviously, with the COVID-19 pandemic Coach was just happy to play ball but he also gets to coach his son Jackson Brown this year. When you've coached as long as Brown has there aren't a lot of "firsts" left out there so coaching his son for the first time clearly was fun for him.

Chris Hogan became an instant fan favorite when he was featured as "7/11" in the 2012 season of "Hard Knocks" on HBO. Hogan played Lacrosse for Penn State before transitioning to football at Monmouth. Hogan's 10 year NFL career included time with the Jets and Bills where the Bills Mafia embraced him. With football behind him, Hogan has entered the Premier Lacrosse League Draft looking to get back to his athletic roots.

I hope you're ready for some football because you're about to get a double dose of UAlbany! The CAA Fall Football schedule has officially been announced! We've been forced to wait MONTHS to see the UAlbany Great Danes's follow-up performance to making the second round of the 2019 NCAA FCS Championship Tournament but the wait is almost over! With CAA Spring football set to kick-off in March, we now know it'll be a quick turn around then back at it when the 2021 Fall season starts on September 4th.

The University of Albany Men's Basketball team has been on pause since Tuesday January 26th. Which means they can come resume basketball activities as soon as Thursday February 4th. in the interest of athlete safety that means this weekends games against U Mass Lowell will be pushed back to next weekend. The 2020 CAA University of Albany Great Danes Football season was one of many victims of the COVID-19 pandemic. In an attempt to salvage the season a plan to postpone play until Spring of 2021 was put into place. As you know just because you schedule something does not guarantee it'll happen especially while there's a worldwide pandemic taking place. So now that kickoff is less than 36 days away are we any closer to knowing for sure there will in fact be a season? The University of Albany Men's Basketball program received tough news today that they would be forced to go back on pause. A Tier One member of the program has tested positive for COVID-19. Tier One consists of coaches, players, managers and any staff that comes into direct contact with the team.
