UAlbany Football Opts-Out Of Remainder Of Spring Season
The University of Albany Football has announced that they will opt-out of their two remaining games this Spring season. The decision was made public in a press release from the university earlier today. The Great Danes were scheduled to play at #8 Delaware on April 3 and at home against #16 Villanova on April 10. The team says they decided to opt-out due to "a focus on the health and safety of the team's student-athletes due to the high number of injuries on the roster."

As if holding a press conference in front of the media of the Capital Region wasn't enough the guy hops in a car and came to Ravenswood Pub in Clifton Park to join Levack and Charlie and introduce himself to the 104-5 The Team ESPN Radio listeners.

The success of the Great Danes of the Unversity of Albany has more and more Capital Region residents paying attention to lacrosse. It's only fitting that the team who will call Albany home would have a UA alum on it. Joe Resetarits played for head coach Scott Marr and the Great Danes from 2009 to 2012 and now he's coming back with the Albany NLL team(name currently being decided).

As the University of Albany Men's Basketball team prepares to face NJIT in the first round of the America East tournament head coach Will Brown sounds prepared and calm. When we spoke to Will Brown before this season began it was clear that he was excited to get his team on the court for a few reasons. Obviously, with the COVID-19 pandemic Coach was just happy to play ball but he also gets to coach his son Jackson Brown this year. When you've coached as long as Brown has there aren't a lot of "firsts" left out there so coaching his son for the first time clearly was fun for him.

Hogan played Lacrosse for Penn State before transitioning to football at Monmouth. Hogan's 10 year NFL career included time with the Jets and Bills where the Bills Mafia embraced him. Which means they can come resume basketball activities as soon as Thursday February 4th. in the interest of athlete safety that means this weekends games against U Mass Lowell will be pushed back to next weekend. If all these moving pieces are confusing and frustrating to me and you, can you imagine what the team must be going through. Head Coach Will Brown said the plan is to keep the players active.

In an attempt to salvage the season a plan to postpone play until Spring of 2021 was put into place. As you know just because you schedule something does not guarantee it'll happen especially while there's a worldwide pandemic taking place. The University of Albany Men's Basketball program received tough news today that they would be forced to go back on pause. A Tier One member of the program has tested positive for COVID-19. Tier One consists of coaches, players, managers and any staff that comes into direct contact with the team.
