Chipper Jones gave a speech before the All-Star Game on Tuesday night.  It wasn't exactly the stuff of legend, but he did manage to mention the movie "Major League."

Atlanta Braves' third baseman Chipper Jones gave a pregame speech to his National League teammates before the 83rd All-Star Game at Kauffman Stadium in Kansas City on Tuesday.  It was more of a pregame talk than a speech.  Chipper talked about how much everybody in the clubhouse deserved to be in that room and that they were the "elite of the elite."  It was a good message.

Some people are talking about how much this speech fired up the National League and inspired them to beat the American League 8-0 in the Midsummer Classic.  This is definitely a stretch.  Chipper's speech (or talk) didn't inspire his teammates to run through walls on their way to the field.  It was a good talk.  Let's not make it out to be more than that.  Bruce Jacobs (host of "Game On") mentioned this same thought during the Wednesday edition of the "Crosstalk."  The audio is below.  Bruce even does an impression of Chipper's speech (or talk).  Enjoy.
