Chipper Jones was the ultimate Mets killer when he played for the Atlanta Braves.

Across 18 major league seasons with the Braves, Jones hit .309, posting a .406 on-base percentage against the Mets.

But now, Chipper Jones is a friend of the Mets?

Jones has picked the Mets to win the World Series as we head toward Spring Training. The Mets lost the Series last year to the Kansas City Royals, four games to one.

Is Jones off-base in thinking the Mets can win this year? Absolutely not.

Armed with a great pitching staff full of young aces, the Mets boast the best starting staff in the National League. They also have a good bullpen, anchored by closer Jeurys Familia - and it got better with the signing of Antonio Bastardo.

Offensively, the Mets are still suspect to me, but the signing of Yoenis Cespedes helps. The moves in the middle of the infield will prove to be question marks, as we wonder if Asdrubal Cabrera and Neil Walker will end up being the upgrades the Mets sought.
