The last time a pitcher threw a no hitter in the majors was Homer Bailey of the Reds. Make that the last 2 now. Bailey tosses a gem as the Reds shut out the defending champion Giants 3-0 and picks up his 2nd no hitter of his career.

Bailey spun the last no hitter, back on September 28th,2012. That day he blanked the Pittsburgh Pirates.

Bailey was nearly perfect. The only baserunner to reach was outfielder Gregor Blanco who worked a walk in the 7th inning.

Bailey struck out 9 and walked just Blanco. Bailey was just 4-6 coming into the ballgame. He defeated a fellow pitcher that has struggled in Tim Lincecum. The " Freak" took the loss and falls to 4-9.

Bailey received just enough offense. Joey Votto drove in the game's 1st run with a sac fly in the 1st. Votto scored the 2nd run, just shead of Brandon Philips who cracked a 2 run homer in the 6th.

The slumping Giants have lost 8 of their past 10.

Bailey becomes the 3rd Reds pitcher in their long history to toss at least 2 no hitters. The others are Jim Maloney and Johnny Vander Meer
