It was the third straight weekend for racing under the lights as the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series ran the Federated Auto Parts 4oo at Richmond International Raceway. Clint Bowyer would take the checkered flag for his second win of the season.

Rain would delay the start of the race by nearly two hours but the green flag would eventually drop at 9:31 pm on Saturday night.  It would also cause a red flag when heavy rains came in at lap 152.

Denny Hamlin, coming of his 2 straight wins would have another good run leading close to 200 laps. But it was fuel management that would be his downfall as he would need to pit with about 6 laps left.

Bowyer was also close to running out of fuel but he had just enough to make it to the finish line. Jeff Gordon would finish 2nd and secure a spot in the chase. Mark Martin would finish in 3rd followed by Tony Stewart and Matt Kenseth to round out the top 5.
