Every pitcher in the game reserves the right to throw at a batter.  However, what Philadelphia pitcher Cole Hamels did is not acceptable, and his actions have now been met with a five game suspension.

Hamels called his pegging of the rookie Bryce Harper a traditional way of welcoming him to the big leagues, but others are not sharing his sentiment.  Nationals GM Mike Rizzo called it a classless act, and said that Hamels is "fake tough".

Hamels began serving his suspension on Monday night against the Mets, a game that they ending up losing 5-2.
